Now that 56-year-old talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres, and her Arrested Development wife, Portia de Rossi, are not worrying about who is divorcing who, it seems like the comedian can go back to being her old funny self. DeGeneres has done everything in her power in recent months to convince folks that she and Portia were not going to split. According to the latest gossip news updates, the positive thinking seems to have paid off as now that couple are said to be as happy as ever instead of just still together. Judging from her recent Matthew McConaughey Lincoln car commercial spoof, the funny is finally firing on all cylinders once again.
Not being able to let the breakup reports that piled up over her summer hiatus lie, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres felt compelled to make light of the rumors during this year's season premiere (via Yahoo):
"I had a great summer...I went on a trip with Portia, my beautiful wife--who I'm happily married to, but thank you for your heartfelt concern, tabloids."
A source supposedly close to the couple revealed--that all jokes aside--Ellen and Portia really are doing better than they have in years (via Daily Mail):
"They've had their ups and downs...Portia has been very outspoken about previous issues, like her eating disorder, and she's good at seeking help when she needs to.
"They've worked out difficulties in the past, and no doubt they're trying to work out any problems right now."
Whatever is the reason for Ellen's return to form, one would be hard pressed in making the argument that DeGeneres' show isn't at least a little funny.
Even though the Lincoln car commercial with Matthew McConaughey was only recently released, Ellen and her team produced a parody that was so funny it almost made the pretentious propaganda watchable (via E! News):
"I have so many questions...But my biggest question is I don't know why they cut me out of it.
"That's my biggest question. I was in the original version and I think it made more sense when I was in it."
Hell...maybe HBO should have originally cast Ellen in True Detective. It would have been worth it just to see her have ago at that whole "time is a flat circle" crap.
