Tim Tebow Makes 'GMA' Debut; Michael Strahan Talks Ray Rice; Katie Couric ‘Fed Up’ in Potsdam? [VIDEO UPDATE]

Michael Strahan may have retired from the NFL, but that doesn't mean he isn't still towing the party line, so to speak. In a recent interview with David Letterman, the Live with Kelly and Michael! co-host claimed that while Ray Rice's recent actions that led to his indefinite suspension from the league were indefensible, the commissioner and his coaches acted appropriately all along--even though Roger Cordell has already apologized for not giving the attention it deserved at the time it initially occurred back in February. Meanwhile, another former footballer, Tim Tebow, made his debut on Good Morning America last week, perhaps signaling their intentions to eventually fire Strahan, whose public image was damaged by his recent split from ex-girlfriend Nicole Murphy. According to the latest updates, Katie Couric's documentary Fed Up is going to be openly discussed and debated tonight in Potsdam, New York.

Apparently, all you have to do in induct Michael Strahan into your Hall of Fame and he will have your back for life.

During a recent discussion with David Letterman on the Late Show, the former professional football player claimed that the NFL as a whole acted completely responsibly during the whole embarrassing Ray Rice debacle (via Deadline):

"It think that the team handled it right. I think the NFL handled it right.

"Ray made a decision it was the wrong decision and a bad decision, but in the long term...I hope that he can get help and I hope his wife can get help.

"We play very aggressive sport and a violent felt, but it is a controlled aggression--that you use on the field. But when you get home...this is not the sort of business where you take you work home with you."

Speaking of getting it right the first time--Tim Tebow nailed it right out of the gate during his Good Morning America debut last Monday.

Tapping into the walking, talking personal interest story that is Tim Tebow, the producers teamed the one-time quarter back up with a little kid to make sure his first piece crushed it (via USA TODAY):

"Tebow traveled to Pennsylvania to meet young Deven, who is able to run thanks to a pair of blades that were donated to him.

"The star of the segment was clearly the 10-year-old, but Tebow shined too. He's a natural for these types of stories."

Not so easy to take is America's obesity epidemic, which is presumably why Today show alum, Katie Couric, helped get the documentary Fed Up made in the first place.

The trend towards men and woman of all ages and socioeconomic levels to be impacted either directly or indirectly by poor health conditions associated with rampant obesity in this couple has prompted some of the citizens of Potsdam, New York to get together tonight and discuss the film (via North Country Now):

"GardenShare, the Local Living Venture, and Cinema 10 have partnered to bring Fed Up to the Roxy Theater.

"The screening will be followed with a panel discussion including community members who work closely with these issues on a daily basis.

"Panelists include Dr. Nick Knowles, family physician with Canton Potsdam Hospital since 2010. Linda Caamaño works for the Health Initiative and is the Coordinator for the Diabetes Prevention Program. Paula M. Youmell, of Hands On Health Holistic Healing, has knowledge in many areas. Daisy Cox works directly with the food insecure families in our community."

Let's hope it's not as hard to get people to start watching what they eat as it is to get athletes in the NFL to stop cold cocking their wives and girlfriends.
