Good news Here Comes Honey Boo Boo fans--word has it that Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson will be staying on with the TLC TV show, even if he won't be staying with Mama June and Alana per se. According to the latest gossip news updates, the network has decided to just work the divorce into the series in lieu of firing the Toddlers and Tiaras star's dad. Some folks even suggest that the producers may even be able to use the split to boost ratings--just as long as the whole thing doesn't go all Jon and Kate Plus 8 on them.
Sadly it seems that the love that "Mama" June Shannon and Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson shared couldn't make it through the crucible of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
In an utterly soul crushing turn of events, the McIntyre native's released an official statement announcing their uncoupling (via TMZ):
"Sugar Bear and I have decided to take some time apart to figure out some things in our relationship.
"We are taking things day by day but regardless of what happens the girls will always be our #1 priority.
"We want to thank ya'll for your support."
According to the Hollywood Gossip this doesn't mean that we are going to have to say goodbye to Thompson, being that he is the star, Alana Thompson's, biological father.
A source on the inside of production even went so far as to claim that this could be the best thing that ever happened to the show, albeit probably not for the family:
"To tell the truth it's good for the show. It had hit a bit of a lull and now there are tons of story lines...dating, single parenting, breakup."
The only hiccup with that plan, says TMZ, is hat June Shannon may be looking to get far away from Mike now that things are kaput:
"Mama June plans on taking the kids and moving out-- once the latest round of filming Here Comes Boo Boo is done...so she can be closer to her relatives.
"[But] she hasn't fully decided on the move."
They should have never got the internet in Georgia...at least not Sugar Bear.
