Steve Buscemi’s HBO ‘Boardwalk Empire’ New Episode Preview and Final Season Spoilers [VIDEO]

The third episode of the fifth and final season of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, starring Steve Buscemi, airs tonight. Check out the official plot preview for spoilers.

The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode, titled “What Jesus Said,” reads:

“Margaret finds herself in a pickle due to her dealings with the late Arnold Rothstein when his widow starts snooping around his covert affairs. Meanwhile, Chalky wonders where his latest partnership is going; Nucky talks shop with a prominent businessman from Boston; Luciano and Siegel try to strike a deal with Narcisse in Harlem; and in 1884, a young Nucky works hard at the hotel and catches the eye of a girl who's vacationing with her parents.”

Terence Winter, the series creator and showrunner, recently appeared on NPR’s Fresh Air, where he told the show’s host Terry Gross about the show:

"The more I ... read about it, there [were] so many things in the '20s that were really a mirror to current society Essentially, the illegal alcohol business is the drug business. ... The fact that we're still debating women's rights ... we're still debating evolution almost 100 years later. I thought, 'God, what an opportunity to really do a show that holds up a mirror to current society, and it's 90 years in the past.' "

Winter, who also wrote for The Soprano’s, also opened up about having to kill off characters, adding:

“Part of what makes [Boardwalk Empire] special for me is that we try to be as true to the characters as possible and let the chips fall where they may in terms of actor deals and commitments and that sort of stuff. We made a deal with ourselves early on, on The Sopranos, that we would never keep a character alive because we like the actor who portrayed them. Because [then] we felt we would never kill anybody. You start to get very close to people, and if you start to let personal relationships bleed into the work, it really colors it in a bad way. …”

Check out the all new episode of Boardwalk Empire tonight at 9:00 p.m. on HBO.
