Tonight on Smackdown, Dolph Ziggler and US Champ Sheamus teamed against heels The Miz and Cesaro to stoke the flames of their respective battles for the belts at Night of Champions on Sunday. But the real tag teams to watch are Miz and his "stunt double" Damien Mizdow, as well as Ziggler and his new counterpart R-Truth. As Ziggler's Intercontinental Title is up for grabs, expect to see the Miz try every dirty trick in the book.
Mizdow is perhaps the greatest gimmick Damien Sandow has tried on yet. It sets up so many potential angles for the future. Now that he's a permanent fixture at The Miz's side, the Hollywood A-Lister's stunt double may have found his way out of the cellar and into the mid-card title scene.
The Miz has also shown a great new side in his Hollywood revamp. No one was excited to see him come back, but The Miz has really proved his worth in his current heel run. Exhibiting all the classic traits of a heel, the vain and cowardly Miz makes a great cheating champion, and an even better loser.
Ziggler certainly has a new lease on life since his title run leading up to SummerSlam. In the spring and early summer the Showoff was toiling in obscurity, jobbing for every mid-carder and his cousin over some perceived shortcoming. But as a proven fan favorite, Ziggs showed up every night and wrestled his heart out. Now he has a second chance to show Vince and Triple H what he's made of.
And now he's got a solid ally in R-Truth. The gig may not last, but it's nice to see the talented Truth get some time in the limelight. Who knows- maybe they'll make a solid tag team. Dolph would look good with two belts...
