The classic Nat King Cole recording "Nature Boy" is given new breath by Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, which precedes their upcoming duet's album, Cheek to Cheek. A classic tune for a classy duo, the single croons nicely.
Tony Bennett, even in his golden years, is still cool as he backs Lady Gaga's "enchanting" voice, which is entwined with flutes, an ethereal orchestra and splashy drum runs.
"Nature Boy" was composed in 1941 by Eden Ahbez, according to Lady Gaga and an article at Rolling Stone.
She continued: "It wasn't until 1947 that the song was published, written sometime during or after 1941, while pianist ahbez wandered [Los Angeles] eating only raw fruits. It's just so interesting. This composer was part of a subculture of nomadic hippies! We channeled our own Gypsy lives in this performance."
Famously used in Moulin Rouge, "Nature Boy" is a whirlwind of sonic splendor and the unconventional duo have a way of making it their own.
Listen to the single below and keep an eye out for the new LP dropping on September 22.
