A charity gala, The 58th Viennese Opera Ball that has benefited nonprofit institutions since 1955, will be held this Friday, February 1, 2013, at The Waldorf Astoria, New York, and will benefit Carnegie Hall.
The 58th Viennese Opera Ball will start with its reception at 8pm, followed by a ball and formal dinner at The Grand Ballroom at The Waldorf Astoria. After midnight, at 1am, there will be Tranz bar with post-ball super and music by Peter Duchin and His Orchestra.
Program for the 58th Viennese Opera Ball will include an adaptation of Josef Haydn's marionette opera featuring Jeffrey Mattsey and Amy Shoremount-Obra, in "Die Feuersbrunst" ("The Burning House").
List of performers at the 58th Viennese Opera Ball include Peter Duchin and His Orchestra, Baritone singer Jeffrey Mattsey, Soprano singer Amy Shoremount-Obra, Midnight Quadrille, and The Hayes Kavanagh Jazz Band.
The Viennese Opera Ball has been a synonymum with glamour, elegance and prestige. White tie and decorations for men and long ball gowns for ladies are required for the ball. The earliest Viennese Opera Ball can be traced to the last 18th century.
