The new season of Saturday Night Live premieres in two weeks with host Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy and Parks & Rec) and musical guest Ariana Grande. Recently it was announced that there are going to be a few shakeups behind the Weekend Update desk. Cecily Strong is being replaced by SNL writer and Daily Show correspondent Michael Che. This has upset some fans, not because they don’t want Che to join the staff, but because they would rather he replace Colin Jost. However, Cecily Strong is not wasting anytime whining about the replacement, and neither should you. Where it might be true that Cecily Strong was a better Weekend Update host than Jost, she is also one hell of a regular cast member, meaning we will get to see more of her sketch work. It also means that we might get to see the return of "The Girl at The Party That You Wish You Hadn’t Started a Conversation With."
Cecily Strong has opened up about pushed out of the Weekend Update chair, writing on her Instagram:
"I don't see this as me leaving update, just as me being on update in a looser, goofier way that is a lot more fun for me and in a way I think I'm better at. And now I get to do features with the very funny and wonderful Michael Che!"
What do you think about Cecily Strong being replaced? Would you prefer to see her in more sketches? Let us know your thoughts on the subject in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
