Princess Kate Middleton is OFFICIALLY pregnant with her second royal baby bump, and already the bets are pouring in. Gambling associations are computing odds on everything from Kate's due date to her upcoming bundle of joy's name and gender.
After months of rumors and numerous tabloid cover stories, it has been confirmed by Kensington Palace that Duchess Kate Middleton is pregnant with her second child.
Washington Post, along with nearly every publication on Earth, reported the happy news. According to the popular U.S.-based newspaper, Middleton is less than three months pregnant:
"According to a tweet from the royal tweeter, 'The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news that Their Royal Highnesses are expecting their second child'...A Kensington Palace spokeswoman confirmed the pregnancy and said that while they weren't announcing the due date, she was not yet at the 12-week mark."
The Palace may be holding off on announcing the due date, but that hasn't stopped the world from speculating.
That speculation, in fact, has turned into a big business for gambling houses. Bets are currently being taken for the upcoming child's name, due date and, of course, gender.
New York Daily News spoke with gambling firm Ladbrokes, who offered up the odds they've calculated for Prince William's newest addition:
"Ladbrokes began offering 4-to-5 odds that Kate Middleton will give birth to a boy...The firm said it is an 'even money shot' that Will and Kate will have a daughter... James is an early favorite from Ladbrokes with 6-to-1 odds, while Arthur, Elizabeth and Victoria all have 8-to-1 odds."
If you think the betting categories end there, then you would be mistaken.
Other gambling institutes are taking bets on the child's time of birth, the weight of the child, its hair color and even his/her first official overseas visit.
Fans of Prince Harry, don't worry. You can even place bets on him! And what bets are circulating around Prince William's little brother?
The date when Prince Harry will finally settled down and marry some lucky lady, of course.
What do you think about the latest news? Were you surprised that Kate Middleton is actually pregnant, after the tabloids got it wrong for so long? Did you think she would be pregnant so soon following the birth of her first child?
