From the mystifying mind of Samuel Beckett comes an experimental stage adaptation of the legendary absurdist and his radio play Embers, which will receive a U.S. premiere as part of BAM's Next Wave Festival.
The troubled protagonist of Beckett's '59 play is in constant conversation with his dead father and dead wife--even to himself expressing his contempt as a failed writer. From Ireland's Pan Pan Theatre, the performance is set behind the eyes of a massive skull.
And, with the help of a sound artist, the performance and stage set up demonstrate the ethereal narrative that is the protagonist's attempt to maintain his existence by having it live through words.
Directed by Gavin Quinn and with the sculpture by Andrew Clancy, the show comes to BAM's Harvey Theatre September 17-20. Now, tickets have been posted to the BAM website and are available for purchase.
Subscription price starts at $24.50 and full price tickets at $35. Make your way to the site to save a spot now.
Run time is 55 minutes.
