Thanks to American Idol Carrie Underwood spreading word far and wide that she and husband Mike Fisher were planning to start a family when she turned 30, their marriage has been under constant scrutiny following her milestone birthday March of last year. According to all the gossip news updates, Carrie's Nashville Predator hubby was ready to split after months of Underwood putting the pregnancy off, and as a result their marriage was on the precipice of divorce. Now that the "Something Bad" singer has announced on Instagram that she is expecting a baby, reports are starting to surface that a desperate Carrie has actually been trying to conceive for over a year.
There has been near constant speculation all of this year that Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher have been at loggerheads over having a baby and starting their family sooner rather than later.
One supposed insider went so far as to suggest that Mike had even put Carrie on notice that it was either time to pull through or pull out (via National Inquirer):
"It all came to a head earlier this spring when Carrie told Mike that she was mulling several acting offers that would keep her busy and away from home through the end of the year.
"She realized Mike was ready to throw in the towel on their relationship over the baby issue.
"Mike blew a gasket. He told Carrie that she needed to choose between her career and her marriage."
According to a source, who spoke with OK! Magazine for their September 22, issue, Carrie's recent conception seemingly had a lot more to do with divine timing and fate than any burgeoning country music career:
"Months were passing, and Carrie was beginning to get scared that she might not be able to conceive.
"When a whole year went by, she started to panic...[but] her pregnancy has brought a lot of hope to Carrie and Mike that they'll be able to have the big family they have always dreamed of.
"Carrie and Mike prayed a lot for a baby...They're calling it their little miracle."
Not to split hairs, but according to Carr's Instagram update, they are calling it "Fly":
"We haven't picked names yet but it's looking like Fly is going to fly. #boyorgirl #flyfisher"
Let's hope they pray for a while on that too.
