Last week the world lost a legendary comic, when Joan Rivers passed away. Now some of Rivers’ friends, Dolly Parton and Harry Wayne Casey (KC and The Sunshine Band) have released statements in honor of her.
Legendary singer/songwriter Dolly Parton released a statement to the press about the Rivers’ passing:
"Though her death is no laughing matter, her life was nothing but. I know she would want us all to keep smiling. And I know we always will when we think of her. Rest in peace, Joan. We will always love you."
Harry Wayne Casey the founder of the lead singer of KC and the Sunshine Band, also released a statement, honoring the late Joan Rivers:
"I am in shock. My heart goes out to Melissa and Cooper and the whole family in their time of sorrow. Joan was an endearing person and always took care of everyone she came in contact with, including her fans. I spent a lot of time with her in Las Vegas and we shared a lot of laughs together. Whenever I could, I went to shows to hang with her. Early on, Edgar came to me and said, 'If you need anything, just call' and I took them up on that. From then on, they became close to me - they became family.
“Out of everybody, she never said a harsh word about me. She said, 'Would you hurry up and have another hit record so we can become like Michael Jackson and Elizabeth Taylor.' One morning we went out on a golf cart to pick up all the golf balls at a Las Vegas casino resort - I'm sure that made more than a few golfers angry but we couldn't stop laughing!
“The world has lost a great comedienne and person, and I've lost a dear friend."
