What happens when the body of a dancer begins to fail? You take to the YouTube circuit and get back on your feet--quite literally--and that's what Kathryn Morgan used as her tool to reinvent herself a ballet dancer.
At 25, Morgan discovered the source of her problem--an under functioning thyroid. The illness came as a shock in the spring of 2010 and she has been trying to revitalize her role as a performing dancer.
At the moment Kathryn Morgan's YouTube channel has acquired more than 6,800 subscribers and her Facebook has accumulated more than 87,000 followers. Utilizing all social media tools, she's also prolific on Instagram.
As The New York Times writes her videos are "geared toward aspiring ballet dancers and include hair and makeup tutorials, barre workouts and question-and-answer sessions in which viewers submit anonymous questions about topics ranging from hyperextension to the dilemma between attending college or pursuing a professional dance career."
It's a social revolution that's happening on the Internet and she's getting behind it. Where she can recant her story in her own words and take steps at her own pace, it seems Morgan is understanding how to maneuver successfully through different channels (again, quite literally).
To wit, here's a sample of what she's offering.
