New Apple 2014 iPhone 6, iWatch Release Date, Details and Specs to Be Recapped at Conference? [WATCH, STREAMING]

Those of you clamoring for details about Apple's new 2014 phone, the iPhone 6, will likely get all of your questions answered today. Apple will be hosting a live event at 1:00 p.m. After all of the rumors circulating the interwebs, potential customers may finally learn the truth about the release date details and specs of the new device, as well as the rumored iWatch.

Ever since Steve Jobs returned to Apple from Pixar, the fanfare surrounding their keynote events has skyrocketed. While there has been a slight dip following Jobs' untimely death, the tech community (and the general public) is still obsessed with the cult of Apple.

So, it's no surprise that today's live stream keynote address is the talk of the town. In keeping with Apple's longstanding tradition of secrecy, little is known about what may actually be covered , however, it's a pretty safe bet that the iPhone 6 will dominate much of today's conference.

With new competition from Samsung, Apple is going to have to up their game in a few key areas. According to C-Net, this may include better speakers:

"iPhone 6 will have to compete with the Samsung Galaxy S5, which features a waterproof build and heart-rate sensor, and the HTC One M8, an equally stylish handset with an aluminum back and excellent speakers. The iPhone has yet to provide a few standard features, like widgets and NFC capabilities, so in some ways the tables have turned and it's Apple's turn to catch up to Android smartphones."

The iPhone isn't the only device Apple is expected to launch at the much-anticipated event. Credible sources are reporting that Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, may also reveal a smartwatch to compete with a number of similar devices on the market.

According to CNN, the rumored device may include health and fitness tracking technology:

"The company may also unveil an iWatch smartwatch, its first wearable device. The iWatch is expected to pair with the new iPhones to display notifications, and it will likely have some health and fitness features. Oh, and it will tell time too -- we're pretty sure of that."
