Retired CM Punk Rumors: After Leaving WWE, Phil Brooks Lawyers Asking Vince McMahon for Money? Alleged Letter Requests Royalties for 2K15 Video Game

CM Punk couldn't stay out of the news if he produced a documentary about asbestos. Even after his contract has run out with WWE and he has apparently retired, he's still with us. Now there are rumors that he has sent a letter through attorneys that allegedly requests he be paid royalties for the use of his likeness in their upcoming video game WWE 2K15. That would be a pretty ballsy move since many believe that Vince McMahon feels Punk is in breach of his contract. If the wrestler born Phil Brooks really did ask McMahon for money after leaving the company six months before his contract was up, it probably wouldn't surprise anybody.

In this legal game of chicken, it seems the two parties are at an impasse. They both have legitimate qualms, but who is ultimately right? The ensuing mess could take forever to clear up (via Cage Side Seats):

"The belief is WWE stopped paying him said royalties due to breach of contract when he left back in January but they are obviously still using his likeness for things like the WWE 2K15 video game."

One interesting facet to this ongoing drama is how close these off-screen issues are to the stories played out by Brooks' character played while on camera with WWE (via Classicalite):

"One of the most beautiful things about wrestling is the gossamer-thin line between reality and the story that they try to tell. Often times reality is opposite from the narrative that fans see on TV and Pay Per View. But even more intriguing is when reality steps in and shapes the story."
