Michael Sam, who has taken the world by storm with his inspirational story, has been given a second chance to make it in the NFL. After being cut by the St. Louis Rams, Sam accepted a spot on the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad. This means he could potentially be called up to play in case of injury or personnel changes later on in the season. Being on a new team also means one other thing: a new jersey.
While Sam isn't guaranteed a spot on the team down the line, he is certainly in a good position should anything happen during the season (via New York Times):
"We feel like he has a chance to come in at a position that we've tried to address throughout the off-season, throughout the training camp, and compete for a spot."
One thing Sam has going for him is his popularity. His jersey sold phenomenally well when he was training for the Rams, but now he's already wearing another team's jersey. Now those Rams jerseys must be collector's items (via USA Today):
"Sam, who was drafted by the St. Louis Rams, had the sixth best-selling jersey in the NFL between May and July. Interest in Sam jerseys figure to be just as high now, especially given his new gig with America's Team."
