Cage Side Seats just announced that Divas Champion Paige will defend her title in a Triple Threat match at Night of Champions against AJ Lee and Nikki Bella. One of the most compelling storylines in WWE right now has been the simmering feud between Paige and AJ Lee. It's not clear how the triangle consisting of the Bella Twins and Stephanie McMahon will fit into the title picture, but hopefully the chemistry between AJ and Paige can carry the extra weight.
While the feud between Steph and Brie had a lot of cool moments, the sibling rivalry between Nikki and Brie is a little lamer than its predecessor. Perhaps that's why WWE hitched the Bellas' wagon to Paige and AJ (via Auburn Pub):
"So WWE brought in the workers to make its more caring hardcore fans captive audience to the soapiest of soap opera garbage the promotion has going. But I'll stay positive: It is a headline slot for Lee and Paige, and so long as they're not shunted to the background for WWE's 'Total Divas' native advertising, they have a chance to shine even brighter."
But Nikki Bella in a title match? Perhaps they could raise the stakes even more and make Steph the guest referee (via Cage Side Seats):
"Indeed, Nikki is, in fact, being granted the title shot Stephanie McMahon revealed she would receive on this past Monday night's episode of Raw."
