The New York Jets are happy to add veteran running back Chris Johnson to their lineup, but for the former Tennessee Titans back, it's like a new lease on life. For the Titans' new head coach Ken Whisenhunt, getting rid of Johnson is just part of his overall strategy to rebuild his team from the ground up.
Chris Johnson got the boot, but don't feel too sorry for him. He is happy to get another chance with the Jets (via New York Post):
"Now a Jet after six mostly dazzling years with the Titans, Johnson still sounds like he's reeling from knee surgery and being released by Tennessee in March when no one in the league wanted to trade for the former 2,000-yard rusher."
Meanwhile, Tennessee is opting to go young. Rookies are always an untested quantity, but in the long run it may be the best way to rebuild a team: put them on the field (via Fox News):
"'Well this league has become about rookies playing, they have to play early,' said Whisenhunt. 'That is an important piece of it, so you always want to try to get your rookies ready to play.'"
