Adrian Peterson has predicted that his first carry of the season will end in a touchdown. He did the same thing last year, and the play resulted in a 78-yard run for a touchdown. Can he pull it off two years in a row? We'll find out Sunday at Minnesota's season opener against the St. Louis Rams.
Somewhat reminiscent of Babe Ruth calling his shot, Adrian Peterson told teammates last year that he would score a touchdown on his first carry, kind of as a joke (via ESPN):
"I really didn't think about it. I really didn't mean it when I said it. And then when it happened, I came to the sideline and they reminded me, 'Oh, man, you said you were going to do that!'"
Meanwhile, rookie quarterback Terry Bridgewater is taking a back seat to veteran Matt Cassel. While Bridgewater may be the future of the Vikings, but the present day strategy is probably to gradually introduce him into the system (via Bleacher Report):
"Bridgewater estimated that he is getting about two percent of the first-team reps in practice, so he has to make the most of the ones he gets in individual drills and when running the scout team."
