HBO ‘Game of Thrones’ Hodor DJ Kristian Nairn Talks Wonder Woman, Drag Dressing and Bran Stark Season 5 Absence

There is a lot more to Games of Thrones Hodor actor Kristian Nairn than Hodar. The openly gay, 6ft 10, Irish actor is also a well known DJ complete with face tattoos. Nairn recently opened up about his past as a drag performer, as well as his childhood hero Wonder Woman. He also shared a bit bad news for fans of Game of Thrones. Nairn announced that him and Bran Stark actor Isaac Hempstead-Wright, will be absent for Season 5.

That is right, no Hodar in Season 5. Nairn recently spoke to Yahoo News about taking the season off with Bran Stark:

"We have a season off and we have a year's hiatus, solely because I imagine our storyline is up to the end of the books. So, I get my year off now to do Rave of Thrones and gallivant all over the world."

Earlier in the actor came out publicly during an interview with Game of Thrones fan site, Winter is Coming:

“Well, in all honesty, when you talk about “the gay community,” you are talking about MY community, haha. I AM aware of it yeah, and I think it’s really lovely. There’s not a day that I don’t get a few messages, but 99% or more are super sweet and nothing smutty at all! Again, it’s a privilege, and I really mean that. I’ve never hidden my sexuality from anyone, my whole life in fact, and I’ve been waiting for someone to ask about it in an interview, cos it’s not something you just blurt out. I’ve tried to lead the questions a few times, to no avail!.... had an upbringing to respect other people’s privacy, and their right to be and choose what they want, and I expect, no, demand no less for myself. It’s a very small part of who I am on the whole, but nonetheless, in this day and age, it’s important to stand up and be counted. I have and always will stand my ground. So, yeah, people have been great, on the show, but I don’t see why it would be an issue.”

Nairn also spoke with Yahoo about knowing that he was gay his whole life, adding:

"When I was 13 my mum knew that I was gay and she just always knew. I used to play Wonder Woman with her when I was a kid and I was always Wonder Woman. I always stopped short of the outfit, thank God."
However, he did have a drag phase, adding:

"I actually started off - believe it or not - doing drag, I travelled the world because I was a completely off the wall drag artist. It wasn't feminine, it was just Marilyn Manson meets Divine meets some sort of monster from out of space, that sort of thing. And it was really popular, actually. It went down really well."
