Founded in 2004 by Lynne Hayden-Findlay and Leonarda Priore, the Chelsea Opera has announced its 2014-15 season.
Featured in the schedule is a pair of one-act operas by American composer Henry Mollicone, The Face on the Barroom Floor and Emperor Norton.
The Face on the Barroom Floor highlights a libretto by John S. Bowman and cast soprano Molly Mustonen as Isabel/Madeleine in the Chelsea Opera production. The New York premiere of Mollicone's Emperor Norton has cast baritone Justin Ryan.
Chelsea Opera will also continue their Chelsea Opera presents series in January. The series includes a performance of Quintessentially Yours II in January and Purely Puccini in March, both at Christ and Saint Stephen's Episcopal Church on Manhattan's Upper West Side.
To wit, the Chelsea Opera’s mainstage series continues in at St. Peter's Church in Chelsea with Puccini's Tosca.
Chelsea Opera finishes out their season in June with a performance of A Distant Love: Songs of John and Abigail Adams by Gary Fagin and Terry Quinn in Quincy, Massachusetts, the site of the Adams ancestral home. This Adams National Historical Park performance is funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts - Art Works program.
