Thankfully, movie screenings with grand, live orchestras are on the rise these days--the next coming from "Middle-Earth" with the complete Lord of the Rings trilogy from April 8-12, 2015 at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center.
Come April, 250 musicians with the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra & Chorus will take the stage and perform under a massive movie screen.
If you are a fan of either Tolkien or Romantic sounds, your nerd thirst will be duly satiated, indeed.
Aside from the movie's brilliant foley, composer Howard Shore (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) won an Academy Award for scoring the film's original soundtrack.
Shore said of the performance to Gothamist, "The trilogy at Lincoln Center is unique and something powerful happens--a synergy is created--in bringing together the music, live on a massive scale, with the films, in a magnificent house, and not only for one night, but presented over the course of a week."
"We hope that everyone who travels from near or far will feel they've arrived at a kind of contemporary, cultural Middle-Earth," he continued.
Tickets are on sale now, starting at $59 for each screening.
Two types of packages are available, and you can bet all your hobbits that all these seats will be sold in advance. In other words, Classicalites, don't wait until April.
