The Chicago Bears had one of the worst defenses in the NFL last year, but they're hoping to improve in 2014 now that safety Chris Conte's shoulder is better. He got a concussion in the preseason but is expected to be cleared to play. On the other side of the ball, the Bears just placed receiver Marquess Wilson on injured reserve. Wilson may miss all month due to a broken collarbone, so they freed up a spot on the roster.
Now, though, Wilson can't come back until week 7, even if he is medically cleared well before then.
Wilson may or may not come back at all this year, although it seems like he was going to be integral to the offense (via NBC Sports):
"The 21-year-old Wilson suffered a broken collarbone early in training camp. He was expected to compete for the club's No. 3 receiver role."
On the defensive side, Chris Conte is hoping to make a splash this year, after injury and way too much responsibility made him kind of look bad last season (via Windy City Grid Iron):
"He admittedly lost some confidence last year while his defense struggled and he worked through a shoulder injury, but now that the talent around him has been upgraded I think he'll be fine."
