As the NFL Season kicks off good and proper this Sunday, September 7, let's take a look at the Indy Colts 53-man regular season roster as they square off against the Denver Broncos.
Wide receivers Reggie Wayne and Griff Whalen hope to make big targets for quarterback Andrew Luck this year, despite Whalen's noticeable absence for much of last season (via Indy Star):
"No. 87 is on a mission after missing the final 10 games last year with a knee injury. He turns 36 in November and is driven to prove wrong those who doubt his ability to return to form. Whalen offers dependable depth, and is a punt return option."
Injuries aren't the only thing keeping the Colts from being whole. Linebacker Robert Mathis will miss four games due to a drug suspension. That darn NFL substance abuse policy will just about clean out the league before long, seems like (via Colts.com):
"For the Colts there's no Robert Mathis. It was Mathis' second quarter strip/sack of Manning that sparked the Colts in last year's meeting. Mathis will miss the entire first month of the year, serving his four-game suspension."
