Kobe Bryant Getting Older, Observing Aging Veteran Paul Pierce to Evolve Before Retiring From Lakers

Kobe Bryant, while still immensely talented, is getting older. And like many aging veterans before him, Kobe will have to change his game up to stay relevant on the court. Michael Jordan did it immensely well after incorporating a post-up game and a deadly jumper into his main arsenal. But Bryant has been observing fellow active NBA star Paul Pierce as an example of how to evolve before retiring from the Lakers.

Determined to leave the league on a high note, Kobe finally seems to be coming to grips with his advancing age (via CBS Sports):

"I'm going to max [my last two years] out too, to do whatever I can. Leave no stone unturned, no water left in the sponge...There are certain things that my body can't do that I used to be able to do... And you have to be able to deal with those."

It doesn't mean he has to be put out to pasture, though. Paul Pierce, for example has become a master of the "play smarter, not harder" school of hoops for geezers (via NESN):

"If he can adopt some of Pierce's methods into his own game, Bryant should perform at an All-Star level this season."
