New Charlotte Hornets Guard Lance Stephenson is looking for a fresh start after his initial tenure with the Indiana Pacers was fraught with distractions, like the time he pissed off Larry Bird by blowing in LeBron James' ear. But the young and talented Stephenson is looking to put all that behind him now.
It seems that Hornets owner Michael Jordan was looking to the future when he stole Stephenson away in free agency (via Fan Sided):
"From the beginning of free agency it was clear Stephenson wanted to stay and continue to build with the Pacers organization. Instead, Indiana was too cheap and kept their five-year, $44 million deal on the table."
Jordan is likely banking on the notion that Lance will grow out of his class clown persona and become a premiere guard capable of leading championship teams down the court.
Stephenson's agent acknowledged the Pacers for their role in shaping the young guard in a recent statement (via Bleacher Report):
"Lance will miss the city [Indianapolis], the team and the mentor who helped transform him into the dynamic player he has become."
