The New England Patriots Failed to top the New York football Giants last night in preseason action though they were tied with just minutes left in the game. Losing by just a field goal in the final seconds to an undefeated team isn't the worst way to go down, but it does leave fans in Boston dreaming of better days. Heck, they might even be tempted to start missing their old tight end, who stands accused of being a sociopathic killer- Aaron Hernandez.
Instead of trying to win the game in overtime, Bill Belichick executed a bold stroke by trying convert on fourth down with just three minutes left to play. The Giants, however, were ready for them (via ESPN):
"I knew it was going to happen. We would have done the same thing. We saw what we needed to see and it was time to get it over with. He (Belichick) was in the same position. Everyone was healthy for the most part. As much as you want to win, it's better to get out healthy."
It's always nice to have more offensive weapons, but could they do better than Hernandez, despite his personal shortcomings? They better start looking, because he ain't coming back (via Boston.com):
"Hernandez was a fourth-round pick because of character concerns -- that's an understatement in retrospect, huh? --- but he'd have been a likely first-rounder based on talent."
