It looks like the 50 Shades of Grey movie curse is continuing this week. The director of the upcoming film had police raid her home for an unlikely reason. This latest turn of bad luck comes after Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam abandoned the role of Christian Grey.
When it comes to the upcoming movie based on EL James' popular adult romance novels, it would be difficult to claim that the film has had smooth sailing.
This was evident from the very first stage of production and, to a larger extent, the casting. Once it was revealed that Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam were cast as the lead roles, Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, respectively, fans of the novel reacted with vitriol.
The widespread criticism and social media commentary are said to be the reasons that Charlie abandoned the role just weeks before filming was set to begin.
Though producers for the film claimed there was a scheduling conflict, many fans felt that was a lie.
When production did resume (after filming was pushed back), the production team faced a number of obstacles. Terrible weather forced the crew to travel to another country for shots, and when they were able to resume scheduled shooting, members of the community interfered with production.
And now it seems that the director of the film is experiencing a bit of bad luck as well.
Sam Taylor-Johnson probably didn't expect the police to raid her London home, but that's exactly what happened last night around midnight. The London Metropoliton Police informed E! News as to why they raided her UK pad:
"Police were called at 23:40 hours on Thursday 28 by a member of the public reporting they had seen from the street what they thought was a firearm sitting on a desk by the window of property. Local officers and officers from Metropolitan police attended. The owner was not home at the time, a key holder was contacted and let police in the property. It was confirmed the firearm was a deactivated M16 rifle. No arrests were made."
