Alan Branch, formerly of the Buffalo Bills, was cut this weekend after a series of events which climaxed with his DUI arrest. Police noticed him puking out of his car and, upon further inspection, revealed that he had a blood-alcohol content of .14. But for the ex-lineman, that was only the most recent of his woes. Reportedly, Branch was already on thin ice after missing practices like the "voluntary" OTAs. Those no-shows cost him his job as much as the arrest, according to some observers.
In many ways, it seems Branch's dismissal was imminent. The DUI might have just been the final nail in his coffin for the Bills (via Bleacher Report):
"Writing has to be on the wall for Alan Branch. No-show no call to OTAs, failed condition test, arrest for drunk driving night before game."
Even in his public statement, coach Doug Marrone seemed exasperated (via CBS Sports):
"I just had too much on my mind. I tried to call him, couldn't get ahold of him. But I wanted to get ahold of him some other way, so I got ahold of him through other people and just said, 'Hey, I'll meet with you tomorrow.' "
