Martin Scorsese is taking us back to Shutter Island. The 2010 psychological drama, is coming to HBO in the form a new show, currently titled Ashecliffe. The announcement for the series comes as the Scorsese produced show Boardwalk Empire is gearing up for it’s final season. Scorsese is also reportedly working with a untitled 70’s rock project with Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones.
Who needs True Blood when you got good ole Marty Scorsese. The film legend is planning a new series for HBO just as his current series Boardwalk Empire is coming to a close.
Just like with Boardwalk Empire, Scorsese will reportedly be producing the series, and directing the first episode in order to set the tone for the series. The new show is based off of Scorsese’s 2010 film Shutter Island, starring Leonardo Dicaprio.
Boardwalk Empire returns with the first episode of fifth and final season on Sunday September 7th. The official plot synopsis for the season premiere episode, titled "Golden Days for Boys and Girls," reads:
“Season 5 opens in 1931 with Nucky in Cuba, where he presses a U.S. senator on the likelihood of Prohibition's repeal and eyes a future business deal with a rum magnate. Meanwhile, Margaret witnesses a casualty of the Great Depression on Wall Street; Luciano makes a bold career move; Chalky catches a break to get out of a bad situation; and in a flashback to 1884, a young Nucky makes an impression on the Commodore.”
