Veteran NBA powerhouse Carmelo Anthony has a bold prediction for his New York Knicks this season: they will make the playoffs. Despite his high hopes for the team helmed by Derek Fisher and Phil Jackson, Anthony reportedly said he was very close to leaving the organization before deciding to ride it out. Despite the fact that NYC almost lost Melo, they are obviously glad he stayed, at least at local strip club Scores.
Anthony is hoping that with some personnel tweaks, Fisher and Jackson can help him turn the Knicks around. They haven't been serious contenders since the 90's (via New York Daily News):
"I don't think we will have another season like we had last year. When I say that, I believe that we will make the playoffs, that's where I'm coming from."
It's hard to imagine that just a couple of months ago, Melo was at the center of all sorts of trade talks and rumors going around the league.
Anthony even admits that he was tempted to leave, but that he just couldn't do it (via Washington Post):
"It was close, it was close. I don't even like to talk about that no more. This is home. There is no place like New York. Although the other situations were very intriguing, there is no place like New York."
