Steelers LeVeon Bell And Lagarette Blount DUI After Pulled Over High On Pot: Suspension To Follow?

LeVeon Bell and Lagarette Blount, running backs for the Pittsburgh Steelers, were pulled over last Wednesday and charged with possession of marijuana. Bell is also being slapped with a DUI for being high on pot. Bell reportedly asked the cops how he could get a DUI without drinking alcohol, apparently not understanding that "driving under the influence" means to be under the influence of any mind-altering substance. There is no word yet from the NFL as to whether either back will be suspended.

Bell reportedly admitted to cops that he had smoked marijuana, but claims that he was not impaired (via CBS Sports):

"'I didn't know that you could get a DUI for being high,' Bell said according to the officer. 'I smoked two hours ago. I am not high anymore. I am perfectly fine. Why would I be getting high if I had to get on a plane to make it to my game?'"

According to New York Daily News, Bell tried to explain that he was an NFL player to the cops (via New York Daily News):

"'Why would I be getting high if I had to get on a plane to make it to my game?' he said. When asked what game he was referring to, Bell replied: 'I have to be on my plane at three to be in Philadelphia. I play for the Steelers.'"

Former Steeler Ryan Clark has been outspoken in defense of NFL players smoking marijuana, but he probably didn't mean that dudes should roll down the block smoking weed in the truck. Since neither of these guys beat their wives, though, they will surely pay for their crimes via a stiff suspension and fines.
