Have you ever heard of Al Roker Syndrome? According to Urban Dictionary, it's when you suddenly lose a ton of weight and you still have a huge head. Well, Former NFL Linebacker Bart Scott says it's real and that he has seen friends and former teammates afflicted by this "condition".
Urban Dictionary defines Al Roker Syndrome as when someone loses a bunch of weight at once, via gastric sleeve surgery, for example, then they have a skinny body and a big fat head.
Former NFL linebacker Bart Scott says it's not only an issue of too much too soon, but it's also about being at your correct, natural weight (via TMZ):
"'You gotta find an equilibrium ... you gotta find a part where your head and your body match.'
"Ya gotta watch the clip -- Scott is hilarious ... and even calls out one of his former NY Jets teammates who came down with some ARS after dropping more than 100 pounds!!!"
Huffington Post displayed the video as well (via Huffington Post).
Bart Scott spent most of his career in Baltimore, before moving on to the New York Jets to finish out his career.
Roker hasn't commented on the story so far, but he's got a pretty good sense of humor, so he probably got a chuckle out of that. Roker, who had gastric bypass surgery in 2002, lost 100 pounds not long after the operation.
The long-time weatherman has managed to keep the weight off and stay relatively healthy for years now, although he did initially struggle with back pain.
Roker's head seems much more proportionally appropriate these days, thank goodness.
