Despite ex-NFL footballer Michael Strahan's squeaky clean All-American image on Good Morning America and the Live with Kelly and Michael!, reports are starting to surface about Mike's dark past in the wake of his split to former engaged girlfriend, Nicole Murphy. According to the latest gossip news updates, Strahan is a serial cheater with a history of alleged emotional and physical abuse--once having ex-wife, Jean Muggli, publically accuse him of punching her in the face. His early morning cohost, Robin Roberts, has used her personal life not only to lift Good Morning America's ratings, however, but her public reputation as well. The consummate professional--Roberts didn't even take the opportunity to relish the victory of surpassing the Today show in popularity. The cancer survivor says she's always careful to keep her ego in check or as Robin says, "When you strut, you stumble."
Let's hope that Michael Strahan's position in daytime television is shored up with some sort of iron clad contract, because it is doubtful that this is the kind of attention that Good Morning America was hoping to attract when it added the former pro football player to the star studded lineup.
Unfortunately for Michael, once former fiancé Nicole Murphy publicly announced that they were splitting up the very weekend of his Hall of Fame induction, all sorts of stories started to bubble to the surface about Michael's misdeeds.
A supposed insider who spoke to Star Magazine for their September 1, issue, insists that Strahan isn't anything like the loveable teddy bear that he pretneds to be:
"His biggest concern in life in his public image...[but] Michael is a far cry from the guy you see on TV every morning.
"He has hurt a lot of people over the years."
According to the coverage in Star, Michael has a long history of being accused of some very bad behaviors--most notably by his ex-wife, Jean Muggli:
"During a domestic violence hearing, Jean claimed that while in Germany in 1996, [Michael] punched her in the face and on the body.
"At another point in the divorce, she claimed Michael secretly videotaped her sister while she undressed in a guest bedroom at their home."
In stark contrast, Strahan's cohost, Robin Roberts, has a reputation in television that any celebrity would be proud off.
Roberts, who has been a host on Good Morning America since 2005, has been credited with a great deal of the rise in popularity that eventually led her show to overtake ratings giant, the Today show.
Robin told Variety in a recent interview, that while she loved being in the top spot, she hasn't allowed herself to get comfortable there for even one day:
"Never take for granted being number one. Never for a second.
"We don't act that way and the sports person in me says that once you do that, you get yourself in trouble, and also the phrase my mother always said: 'When you strut, you stumble. When you strut, you stumble.' I'm always thinking that."
God only knows what Michael Strahan was thinking about when he got himself into this mess but it certainly wasn't integrity.
