Renewed HBO ‘Leftovers’ SPOILERS: Guilty Remnant Leader Patti Ann Dowd Talks Shocking Suicide Death Scene

SPOILER ALERT: There are two more episodes of HBO’s new series, The Leftovers, leftover. However, last week was the last one for Guilty Remnant leader Patti, played by Ann Dowd. Patti took her own life in a very graphic manor last week. Check out the report below to find out just why she did what she felt she had to do.

Recently, Ann Dowd spoke with TV Guide about why her character Patti was willing to lay down her life for the Guilty Remnant:

“The full conviction of the G.R. is that life, as we know it, is over. The event of the departure is cataclysmic. It's a full-out catastrophe, which to say there is no going back and the sooner we accept this in its entirety, the quicker we can move to it where we need to be. Death is not something to be avoided. I think [they're] preparing to die. The Departure presents the chance to let go into the chaos, let go of the control. I think that death to Patti is triumph, a position of strength, an act of joy.”

She went on to add that she believes Patti’s actions were to help Kevin:

“Patty recognizes that Kevin is ready to make the shift. This chaos that's unraveling him internally to Patty is a good thing. That's the beginning. Kevin is one of those extraordinary figures in life. He's a good man. He's trying to do the right thing. He's trying to keep the peace, and, therefore, he is the enemy of the Guilty Remnant because he is allowing the people who are living in denial to continue that way of life. And he's also protecting the Guilty Remnant. The Guilty Remnant does not want or need his protection, and that's why they're at odds. He believes in supporting life as we knew it, that's the way to move forward. But that's not what Patti wants.

Check out the all new episode of The Leftovers, this Sunday night at 9:00 p.m on HBO:
