After Sexual Assault Investigation, Colin Kaepernick Says Hurt Foot In 2013 A Non-Issue

Young 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is looking to get his offense going in the preseason. After being investigated through much of the spring and summer for his alleged involvement in a sexual assault claim, Kaepernick is focusing on football. It came to light that Kaepernick suffered through a foot injury for much of the 2013, but Kap says it's a non-issue. He says football players play through pain and he never felt he was injured, just hurt. Fans of the movie The Program indubitably can appreciate that maxim.

Colin Kaepernick's rushing stats dipped dramatically after their second game because apparently his foot got crushed during an open field run (via CBS Sports):

"'Running down the sideline and went down,' Kaepernick said of the play where he was injured. 'And I think it was one of their linemen or linebackers landed on my foot when I was on the ground.'"

Kaepernick's foot is all better now, he says. He said he didn't need surgery, and the foot healed on its own in the offseason (via ESPN):

"'Just rest,' he said of his recovery. 'It's a non-factor. It's a year-old injury now.'"

Now all he needs is to fill his prescription for an offensive jumpstart:

"Just establish a rhythm. I think that's the biggest thing we need to get right now... Yeah, we're going to try and get in a rhythm in every game that we play. How much we play is going to be determined by coach."

In one of the toughest conferences in the NFL, including San Francisco's fiercest rivals and Super Bowl Champions, the Seattle Seahawks, there is little room for error for the 49ers. Whatever they do, Colin Kaepernick needs to find the magic that led him to the NFC Championship game last year.
