Houston's Number One Draft Pick Jadeveon Clowney Removed From Practice After Cleared To Play, Training Camp After Sports Hernia Surgery

Jadeveon Clowney, the stud defensive end drafted number one by the NFL's Houston Texans, has been showing a lot at training camp since being cleared to practice after a sports hernia injury in June. He missed mini-camp after having surgery to correct the problem, but came back in time for the official camp. Though it seems he is fully recovered from his groin injury, he was reportedly shaken up a few days ago in a joint practice session between the Texans and the Broncos. Coaches removed Clowney from practice as a precaution so they can be game-ready when the regular season starts.

Clowney is expected to be one of the most impactful defensive rookies in a long time. Even in limited action in his final year at University of South Carolina, Clowney showed the world that he could be brilliant in the NFL.

And he can still fulfill that promise, if he can stay healthy (via USA Today):

"He was cleared to participate when the Texans opened training camp last month and has already showed flashes of dominance in the preseason, including a crushing hit on Atlanta Falcons running back Antone Smith last week."

Though he scared folks two months ago when he had surgery before completing his first down as a pro, it seems that he is healthy and his removal from practice Tuesday was merely a precaution (via ESPN):

"Clowney had sports hernia surgery in June, but was healthy enough to return to practice a few days into training camp. Periodically, the Texans have given Clowney days off to manage his return.

"Wednesday's issue did not appear to be related to his sports hernia surgery as Clowney's gait did not seem affected."

The Texans most likely want to protect their prized asset. Clowney's rookie contract was reportedly worth $22 Million.
