Donald Sterling, the disgraced former owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, is giving up the fight. Since the NBA banned him after making racist statements to his alleged mistress, V. Stiviano, he has consistently fought to retain control of his team. However, after his wife Shelly negotiated the sale of the team, he was left with few options. He filed a lawsuit, which was thrown out. Now he says he's "finished" and wants to let new owner Steve Ballmer take over. Fans are excited by his enthusiasm and dedication to turning the program around.
Former Clippers owner Donald Sterling is giving up his dream of exacting legal revenge on the NBA. After losing his lawsuit against the NBA, the aging ex-lawyer seems tired and defeated (via TMZ):
"Sterling was out in Beverly Hills over the weekend when our photog walked up to him and ask about the latest with the Clippers saga -- and that's when Donald shooed our guy away saying, 'I'm finished. I'm over.'"
Recently Steve Ballmer threw a huge party to celebrate the Clippers' new lease on life. The pep rally showed an owner with vitality and verve. Fans of LA's "other" basketball team finally have something to look forward to, and after an impressive showing in this year's playoffs, things are looking up for the Clippers (via Bleacher Report):
"That clutter was gone, replaced by a clarity of vision, purpose and passion brought to bear by Ballmer. His romp of high fives and chest bumps through the crowd on the way to the podium couldn't have been more different than what Clippers fans came to expect from Donald Sterling in his public courtside appearances."
The only problem left now is their dumb name and logo. Is it too late for them to become the LA Raiders?
