The rumor that won't die is that WCW Icon Sting is finally coming to WWE to wrestle at least one match. While still technically not confirmed, the "imminent" deal is tantalizingly close to being finalized, according to Steve Borden himself. While fans still speculate whether he'll be able to have his dream match against Undertaker next year at Wrestlemania, there is another rumor starting to bubble up. Word has it that Hulk Hogan wants to return to the squared circle just one more time. The Hulkster reportedly wants to take on John Cena.
The wrestling world is so hungry to confirm Sting's return to a professional wrestling ring that every word the Stinger says is being analyzed and turned upside down to guess what hidden meanings his words may contain. He has come to an unprecedented place, though, in his public alignment with the company.
His current partnership with WWE in creating shirts, action figures and video games has led everyone to assume that a talent contract is imminent, but at SummerSlam, the words from the horse's mouth never sounded more full of promise (via Cage Side Seats):
"Another interesting Brian Fritz and Dave Meltzer interview, this time with Sting. Not much here we didn't already know already other than Sting has recently visited WWE headquarters and met with Vince McMahon and all his staff."
It's not the content of the interview, but the context of the events of the last month, and the tone of his voice. Even though he can't give anything away, he sounds so excited one can't help but interpret his words as a confirmation that he will eventually wrestle at least one match for WWE.
The new story, however, is that Hulk Hogan is talking about stepping into the ring again (via What Culture):
"Another iconic superstar who spent the past weekend talking up a WrestleMania match was Hulk Hogan. He stated in several media interviews that his bad back was fully healed. His aim now is for one last match, ideally at WrestleMania 31 against John Cena."
