SummerSlam Results: Dolph Ziggler Takes Intercontinental Title, Defeating Moneymaker The Miz In Hollywood

The Miz's current run in WWE has been fantastic. In a company full of so-called heels who don't have the balls to be truly hated, the Miz is really the only current full-time Superstar who understands the importance of the heel. Tonight at SummerSlam, as he lost the Intercontinental Title to Dolph Ziggler, The Miz did everything he was supposed to do. He was vain. He was cowardly. He got booed. For Ziggler, a long-time fan favorite, defeating "The Moneymaker" in Hollywood was a much-needed push for the Show-Off.

If you're too cheap to get the WWE Network for just "$9.99!!!!!!!!!!!" a month, at least check out Gene Mrosko's zippy match recaps on Cage Side Seats:

"The Miz cuts a pre-match promo about him being a 'non-CGI movie star' and intending to make Ziggler become an 'unrecognizable failure...just like the Los Angeles Lakers'... As Miz holds Ziggler in a reverse chinlock, the crowd starts to chant "You Can't Wrestle" to Miz... Ziggler recovers and nails Miz with the Zig Zag for the win!"

Although Ziggler has been buried for much of this year, most likely due to WWE's feeling that he is "injury prone", he continued to pop with the WWE Universe, even while being forced to job week after week after month, etc.

Much like Daniel Bryan's YES! Movement, fans organically responded to Ziggler's passion and charisma. It looks like he's getting a second chance to shine.

Perhaps he can prove himself with a successful IC title run and win back WWE's confidence in him. And maybe, in a year or two, he can take another shot at the WWEWHC.

Don't forget to sign up for the Network (if you tell two friends and they tell two friends- and so on, and so on, and so on- then maybe they freakin' stop with the constant shilling and book some more matches already!)
