Devonté Hynes who also performs under the Blood Orange moniker, has been quite busy outside of his wild refuge Williamsburgh sightings. Hynes racked up a featured spot on Kindness’ new album, Otherness and scores Palo Alto, that James Franco flick.
Otherness is slated for an October 14 release via Female Energy/Mom + Pop Records. The lucid indy record also features Robyn, Kelela, M.anifest, Tawiah and Ade. This is Kindness’ faithful follow-up to his 2012 debut World, You Need A Change Of Mind.
Of course, you remember Hynes writing, arranging, vocal and production paws on cuts by The Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx,Florence and the Machine and Solange Knowles. The hip talent house that is “Dev” has taken his shot at classical music with his score for Palo.
On Thursday, October 9 at BRIC House, Hynes will perform his score to the Gia Coppola film Palo Alto. The flick stars and is based on James Franco’s short stories chronicling a group of rebellious high school teenagers and their experiences with drugs, alcohol, sex, and violence. Wordless Music presents the evening at BRIC House, which will also include a full screening of the film.
