Amidst Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones' latest scandal, in which old photos of him with strippers in sexy poses have come to light, a poignant point about Jones has been brought to light. It's not a new point by any stretch. But while the Huffington Post is busy "explaining" the true context behind those pictures in a hilarious satire piece, Clark Judge is explaining why Jones is responsible for the Cowboys' dismal output over the last decade or two. The answer, according to Judge, is simple: he is a terrible GM.
The Cowboys have always been a team of bad boys, and owner Jerry Jones has fostered that attitude in the last quarter-century. But that's not the problem, according to Judge's recent op-ed article on Jones. Judge thinks Jones should hire a general manager instead of doing it himself (via CBS Sports):
"He's a great marketer. He's a marketing genius. But he knows nothing about personnel. He needs to hire - and has needed to hire - somebody who does, for years. But he won't - and he won't because he owns the team. So he can do what he wants. Usually when you own a team, you hire a general manager who knows personnel. He's not doing that. He's had some success, but he's had a lot more misses than hits."
Meanwhile, the Huffington Post put out a great piece mockingly describing how Jones might explain the photos of young women posing seductively with him in a Texas restaurant years ago (via Huffington Post):
"That photo, suh, is of my tailor. She does all of my personal wardrobe, and ah might add that she is quite good at her job. She was taking measurements on the inseam of my new pants and ah must have said sumthin' funny by the look on her lovely young face, bless her soul. Ain't she a peach?"
