Titus Young, who was released from the Detroit Lions in 2013 after myriad off-field problems, has been in jail since his most recent outburst involving him attacking his lawyer, Bryan Hurwitz. However, that didn't stop a judge from issuing a bench warrant for his arrest after failing to appear in court for a reckless driving charge. Apparently some signals got crossed as the judge was not made aware of Young's incarceration. The former NFL receiver is also awaiting trial for several more alleged crimes.
Young is currently facing multiple charges ranging from battery to burglary. He is in jail after most recently attacking his lawyer, which resulted in him missing a court date for reckless driving (via TMZ):
"But last week, the judge in his reckless driving case issued a bench warrant for Young's arrest ... clearly unaware he's already behind bars."
Despite the mix-up, there is no question that the troubled young athlete is in some serious hot water, legally speaking. Which is too bad because the last incident he found himself in was with his lawyer. That's probably the last person you want to alienate (via Detroit Free Press):
"According to the report, Young 'stood up from his chair and punched (Hurwitz) several times to his face. After being punched by (Young), (Hurwitz) said he lost consciousness. After regaining consciousness, (Hurwitz) said he was bleeding profusely from his nose and that his nose was swollen and felt broken. He also had pain to his forehead and jaw area.'"
Young may have some serious demons, but how will his absence affect the Lions? With a run-oriented offense centered around Reggie Bush and two premiere receivers in Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate, Young may not have a place to come back to, even if he were to get the help he needs.
