Johnny Manziel may be settling down with a nice girl. But is she costing him a starting spot with the Cleveland Browns? Of course, not. That would be ridiculous. However, he will be riding the bench at the start of Monday's preseason game against Washington. Coach Mike Pettine says both QB's should expect to get equal reps, so the rookie Johnny Football can still prove himself. But his sexy girlfriend Colleen Crowley better not distract him too much, or he's going to be Johnny Reality Show after this season.
If you ask Browns coach Mike Pettine, it doesn't matter who starts in just the second preseason game of the season, as both Manziel and Brian Hoyer will get to see some action.
But interestingly, Pettine seems impressed with Manziel's progress, which could mean that he will have a slight edge going into the game Monday night (via CBS Sports):
"'He's been impressive. He's probably slightly ahead of the learning curve where we figured he would've been,' Pettine said. 'I think a big part of it for him is it's essentially him getting the playbook and it has been for a while. And I think he's finally starting to settle down with it.'"
Could his newfound focus be the result of him finally starting to settle down? Maybe Crowley is not a distraction, but an asset to his development as a pro (via TMZ):
"Smoke show Colleen Crowley posted a pic of herself pretending to kiss a screen showing Johnny's news conference after his first NFL preseason game -- which you'd expect. He's Johnny Football, after all.
"So, is Johnny getting serious enough to strap himself to one chick ... just as he's on the verge of NFL stardom?"
