West Wing star Janel Moloney, has a small part on HBO’s The Leftovers, as Christopher Eccleston's (Dr Who) invalided wife. It turns out the Donna Moss actress might just be a real life hero. A new report has come out claiming that the actress rushed to the aid of a woman who passed out on the subway.
NYDailyNews Confidential column recently reported on Moloney’s heroic actions, as an unnamed source tells it:
“I was coming back from a meeting on the subway on the M train and this woman in her 20s passed out in the train car. When we get to the station someone pulled the emergency thingy and there was this big flurry of excitement, and people were crowding around her on the platform and trying to make her feel better...I’m pretty sure the woman who passed out didn’t know, got off the train car, went and kneeled by the woman, actually put [the sick woman’s] head in her lap, and was just being very sweet and helpful. And then I looked closer and it was Donna Moss [Moloney’s West Wing character] Well, Janel Moloney. I mean, it just warmed my heart. She even took out her juice and let the girl drink some. She looked great, by the way.”
Janel’s character on The Leftovers is an invalid, but doesn’t mean the actress’ talents are wasted. Recently, Janel’s onscreen husband, Christopher Eccleston, spoke to Vuture about her impressive skills:
“Well, that’s a hugely challenging role. She can really focus your attention. That’s a great character, actually. There’s a great deal of mystery to his wife. You don’t have to shout and gamble and fight and move around to interest an audience and that’s the hope with Mary. Janel’s certainly well capable of doing that. I’ll say you will see more of her. She is the heart and soul of Matt, and I think what happened to her had a huge effect on the way he behaves. There’s great anger there.”
Check out the all new episode of The Leftovers tomorrow night at 10:00 on HBO.
