‘O.C.’ Mischa Barton Homeless After 2014 House Forclosure: Teen Idol Admits to Career Mistakes? [VIDEO UPDATE]

Making good on a lot of curses whirled at TV screens back in 2005, Mischa Barton's movie career has taken a nosedive, by all practical standards. Despite not having a big hit in either television or film since leaving the O.C. for an apparently ethereal presence in modern day big budget blockbusters, the 28-year-old Instagram feet model claims that starring in the series was a major mistake. Mischa, who may be homeless shortly thanks to her multi-million dollar house reportedly going into foreclosure, says she regrets not passing on the pop culture hit like she had originally planned. According to the latest gossip news updates, it seems the former teen idol blames her only success for every subsequent failure.

Sadly, life has not turned out perfectly for struggling actress Mischa Barton, who never dreamed the 6-and-half million dollar mansion she bought in L.A., when she was 19, would even be beyond her means.

Believe it or not, Mischa blames the only real source of her money she's ever had, The O.C., as perhaps the single greatest regret of her life.

During a recent interview, the face of VAPESTICK actually said she would pass on the show if she was given the chance to do it all over again (via TV Guide):

"Probably not...It's something I came so close to not doing. I had a really great thing with film. People say, be grateful for what you have, but it certainly [was] not the kind of thing I was expecting it to be...I've kind of seen it all.

"I just like to be seen for the hard-working actress that I am and not for a bunch of extraneous press."

According to an insider, who spoke to Star Magazine for their August 18 issue, Mischa sure could use another O.C-sized payday to get her out of this financial house hole, however:

"She was on top on the world when she got that house, in 2005.

"Since then, her career has plummeted--and she's losing her home.

"She's had trouble securing work since The O.C. and is heartbroken to let her home go.

"This is a dark time for her...Mischa is devastated."

To think that if Barton hadn't needlessly retired from the series before it was over, she might have another few seasons' salaries to pay off the rest of that house she's said to be crying about having to give up.
