A world premiere of Lancelot by Steven Fechter is coming to The Gym at Judson this August. Presented by 360repco and directed by Thom Fogarty, Lancelot will run for 16 performances in the Washington Square space with a cast of: Stephen James Anthony, Lulu Fogarty, Romy Nordlinger and Grant Riordon.
This isn’t your mother's Lancelot, that old tale of the Knights of the Round Table and that dude King Arthur. This is a modern day lore about the loneliness of everyday life in Oklahoma for a man.
“I have directed two other plays by Steven Fechter, both highlighted the strength women have and their resilience to life’s hard knocks. Lancelot zeroes in on what it means to be a man in today’s America,” said director Fogarty.
He continues on the production, “As if just maintaining a roof over one’s head isn’t hard enough in an economical depressed part of the country, factor in what it means to be the outsider, whether real or imagined, to feel bullied by one’s past, to hide your light and your art, to never know what it means to shine.”
The basic premise of a man named Ryan who has an ordinary life, job and girlfriend and is one day acquainted by a femme fatale of sorts. This woman, Ginger, sets off the person Ryan seemingly really is inside and who he was in the past.
Lancelot will run from August 13 to 29 on Wednesdays to Saturdays at 7pm and Sundays at 4pm. There are also a few add on dates: Tuesday, August 19 and Monday, August 25 at 7pm and again on Wednesday, August 27 at 2pm.
