Two jazz greats, Bill Frisell and John Pizzarelli, have finally done the unthinkable and joined forces for the latest installment via Fretboard Journal.
The duo have recurring features on Fretboard and over the years have become a source of some serious traffic with their featurettes on the site.
Thankfully for us, the Journal took a video and captured, for the first time, the collaboration between these two heavyweights. To coincide with the performance, the duo field some well-deserved questions from readers and publisher Jason Verlinde.
The pair duet on "Honeysuckle Rose," "Days of Wine and Roses" and "All the Things You Are," and if you're a gear junkie like me, you'll be drooling over Frisell's Gibson ES-175 (a hallmark of jazz guitar as used by virtuoso Joe Pass) and Pizzarelli's Mill 7-string archtop.
The show aired on August 1 but luckily we have a video to commemorate a most star-studded performance by two unparalleled guitar players worth the 38-minute run time.
And as Fretboard cites, a special thanks to Martin Guitars for sponsoring the series.
