Segundo Tevez was safely returned to his son after being kidnapped in Buenos Aires, Argentina for eight hours. Tevez, the stepfather of Juventus soccer star Carlos Tevez. Reports say he was held for ransom after being taken by a group of men while driving, but there is conflicting information regarding whether Tevez actually paid it and what the amount would have been.
There are many reports, though none confirmed, that Tevez paid the money to get his stepfather back (via BBC):
"Local media say a ransom of 400,000 pesos (£30,000; $50,000) was paid. Neither the family nor the authorities have confirmed whether a payment was made."
It is not known if the victim was targeted for his connection to the soccer star, but it is likely (via Bleacher Report):
"The kidnapping of Tevez's stepfather isn't the first time a relative of a football star has been abducted and held for ransom in Argentina. Juan Roman Riquelme's brother famously suffered the same fate in 2002."
