Legendary LA Lakers hoopster Magic Johnson shared his thoughts while smiling this week on the conclusion (we hope) of the Clippers sale to Steve Ballmer as well as Byron Scott taking over coaching duties for the Lakers. Johnson did not take a shot at Donald Sterling, even though Sterling called out Johnson for having HIV during an interview.
Johnson's "reaction" to the news was simply a huge grin:
But he didn't gloat (via Washington Post):
"You have to give Shelly a lot of credit. This was tough for her, but I respect what she did, and I have no ill feelings toward Donald. It's too bad what happened, but when you've been discriminating against people for this long, this is what happens."
Back to the Lakers, Magic recently implied that Byron Scott could have had the job four years earlier if he hadn't gone to Cleveland. Magic said it was late Lakers owner Jerry Buss' wish that Byron take the reigns someday (via USA Today):
"We were in a suite. (Buss) called me up there and he said, 'Ervin, you know, I would love, I think, for Byron to coach this team one day.'"
